A working estate, kept by hand
The people, the land management and the produce behind Farndale — a dale farmed and cared for across generations.
Farndale Estate has been farmed, walked and cared for by the same families for generations
We are a working estate first — the cottages, the store and the daffodil walk all sit alongside the everyday business of farming, forestry and gamekeeping. Everything you see in the dale is shaped by people who live and work here year-round.

Sustainability
We manage the dale for the long term — dry stone walls rebuilt by hand, hedgerows and woodland restored for wildlife, and heather burned in careful rotation to protect ground-nesting birds. Renewable heating and low-flow fittings run through the cottages, and our meadows are cut, not sprayed, to keep them rich with wildflowers.
Meat & produce
Our beef and lamb graze the same in-bye fields and moor edge you’ll walk through on a visit — slowly reared, traceable to the field, and butchered close to home. Alongside it, the Farndale Store stocks homemade jam, eggs, honey and fresh bread from the farm gate.
